What is a Portable Appliance Test?
A portable appliance test (PAT) checks all electrical appliances that are connected by a plug and socket outlet to ensure they are safe for use.
Why do I need my appliances checked?
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAW) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require all employers to make sure that all electrical systems are safe. All employers have a legal obligation to maintain all electrical equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
Many insurance companies require PAT testing as part of their conditions of cover. Your insurance could be invalidated if an appliance causing damage has not undergone electrical safety testing.
How can we help?
